Jaydyn Carr is a young man from San Antonio, Texas who got 10 shares of GameStop stock from his mother for Kwanza back in 2019.
The 10 year old 5th grader loves video games, so his mother, Nina Carr, figured it was a great place to start. Carr commented, saying:
“We were always there two years ago, just buying different video games,” she said. “I was like, ‘I can give him the shares the GameStop and give him something tangible to hold on to and that way he can appreciate it that way.’”
The total cost of the shares Jayden received in 2019 was around $60, but after the price of the stock rose over 1000%, he and his mother decided to sell at $320 / share and he ended up with over $3000 and a new appreciation for financial literacy.
