50 Cent Reveals Why He Doesn’t Rap Anymore

50 Cent recently explained why he’s stepped back from making music, sharing his thoughts in an August interview at Invest Fest. The G-Unit rapper revealed that he feels today’s rap music has become diluted and lacks originality. He stated that to create music in today’s landscape, he would have to “tap into the stupid side” of himself, which is why he has shifted his focus to film production and development, where he believes he can have a larger impact.
This isn’t the first time 50 Cent has expressed concerns about hip-hop’s direction. In a 2022 interview, he emphasized that hip-hop is a youth-driven culture, and it’s up to younger artists to keep the genre evolving. He also commented that many current rap tracks sound similar, making it easy to recreate the same style.
