Bassist B.B. Dickerson Dies at Age 71

This past weekend, the iconic funk musician Morris “B.B.” Dickerson died at age 71 due to an undisclosed illness that he battled for a long time. He had passed in Long Beach Hospital.

B.B. Dickerson was the bassist and vocalist for the band War. Dickerson co-wrote and played on some of the group’s biggest hits like “Why Can’t We Be Friends” and “Low Rider.” The original band members of War included Lonnie Jordan, Howard Scott, Lee Oskar, Harold Brown, Thomas “Papa Dee” Allen, and Charles Miller.
