On Wednesday an Emergency Order went into effect in Rochester, banning after-hours block parties and house parties in an effort to curb violence in the city.
An organization called “Free the People Roc” called dozens of people to Martin Luther King Park to protest against the order, just as the 11pm curfew began. The event was called “F– your curfew on Facebook”.

The group marched from the park to Monroe Avenue, to Alexander Street, East Avenue and back to the park.
At times, stopping in front of bars, encouraging patrons to “get out of the bars and into the streets.
Officers began to close in on the group and take people into custody around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
30 people were arrested and charged with violating New York State Executive Law, Section 24.
The park cleared around 3:45 a.m, an hour and 15 minutes before the ban lifted at 5 a.m.
News10NBC was on the scene most of the night and early morning.
Some say the protesters do not represent the people that the Emergency Order was designed to protect.
It seems to me that this protest was more about freedom than anything against the Mayor’s and RPD’s effort to curb violence.
WDKX frontliners say the curfew is needed in the areas of N Clinton and Hudson Ave were violence has been out of control in recent weeks.
