2nd Graders Sexually Assaulted on Sodus School Bus

Written by on April 4, 2019

The Sodus Central School District in facing a $10 million lawsuit involving two families after an alleged sexual assault took place on one the school’s buses.

The two families involved in the suit claim their 2nd grade daughters were both sexually assaulted by a 4th grade boy who rode on the same school bus between September and December of 2018. The abuse was reported by the school bus driver, but attorneys believe it was going on for at least a year prior and claim they have graphic video footage corroborating the story.

The boy in question has since been removed from the bus but is still in school, another point of contention for the families. According to them, the boy recently approached the victims about the alleged sexual assault while at school.

One of the attorneys representing the family, Thomas Schiro said, “The parents fought hard to have preventive measures put in place after they found out about the things that happened to their daughters. They just want this student to not have interaction with their daughters in school – which they were promised – and obviously that promise didn’t fully come through.”

The school district released this statement following the incident:

“Student and staff safety is the number one priority of the Sodus Central School District. The school district reacted immediately to ensure that the girls would no longer be riding on the same bus as the accused boy. The school district will vigorously defend any legal challenge filed by the families’ attorney. The school district does not anticipate commenting further regarding this pending litigation matter.”

According to Wayne County Sheriffs there is no investigation going on into the alleged incidents at this time.
