Written by on August 16, 2024

There has been a national data breach that may impact every American’s:

  • Social Security Number,

  • Financial information including bank accounts, emails, other financial relationships-such as on-line payments, personal addresses and phone numbers.

  • Credit Reports

  • Your personal history dating back 30 years.

Here are 5 action steps to take to help protect you against this breach. But let me remind you, nothing helps you more than using common sense and caution.

  • Be sure that your anti-virus is up to date.

  • CHANGE your existing passwords on your bank accounts, APPs that you may have for creditors or other payments linked to your checking account. Additionally, your passwords should contain a combination of capital letters, small letters, numbers, punctuation marks and symbols. Be sure to WRITE THEM DOWN!!!! After you have changed them. Do not reuse any current passwords!

  • Be sure to allow: Multi-Factor Authentication. Which means that before a password can change, the institution will text you, verifying that you are authorizing the change.

  • Check all three of your Credit Reports and place a FREEZE on each of your reports. As a reminder the “FREEZE” is FREE!!!!!!!
