In the wake of Hurricane Debby, more than $1 million worth of cocaine was discovered washed ashore on Florida beaches. U.S. Customs and Border Patrol in Miami reported that the storm brought 25 packages, totaling 70 pounds of cocaine, onto a beach in the Florida Keys. A good Samaritan alerted authorities, leading to the confiscation of the drugs. A week later, another package containing 56 pounds of cocaine, valued at over $625,000, was found near Everglades City by local boaters. Authorities believe the drugs were carried in by the tides from the East Coast, and investigations are ongoing to determine their origin.
