Update On RCSD Tax Issues From Financial Officer

The chief financial officer at the Rochester City School District gave an update on Thursday night after the district warned about potential inaccuracies in tax forms mailed to staff.
As News10NBC has covered, the district advised employees not to file their taxes yet. CFO Robert McDowell outlined the problem during a school board meeting, saying pre-tax deductions are either not listed or incorrect on W2 forms for about 200 employees. McDowell says he expects the issue to be fixed by Monday, with updated W2 forms expected to be sent out during the week.
A robocall from the district told employees that boxes 12, 13, and 14 on their W2 forms might be incorrect. These boxes typically include details on withholdings such as 401(k) contributions and flexible spending accounts. The district acknowledged the issue in a statement, attributing it to a “system migration problem.”
Another topic that came up during the meeting is the months of payroll issues that employees have experienced after RCSD transitioned to Oracle, a new payroll system, in July. Superintendent Dr. Eric Jay Rosser spoke about the process of moving to a new platform.
