U of R Receives $10M to Establish Deanship at Hajim School

The University of Rochester has received a $10 million gift from Trustee Emeritus John Bruning and his wife Barbara to establish a named deanship at the Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. This endowment will fund the dean’s position permanently, with current dean Wendi Heinzelman named the inaugural John and Barbara Bruning Dean. Heinzelman, who is entering her third five-year term, praised the Brunings for their ongoing support of engineering and academic excellence. The couple has a history of giving to the region’s academic institutions, including a $1 million gift to Monroe Community College and endowments supporting optical engineering and vision science.
