Stephanie Mullaley, who worked for the Clinton Community School District, reportedly raised $140 from six donations toward an $1,800 goal. The money was intended to help fund a July 2026 trip to Ecuador, where she planned to assist a medical mission team.

An administrative law judge later denied Mullaley’s unemployment benefits, finding that asking students to donate in exchange for extra credit violated the district’s interests and constituted job-related misconduct.
