“I just want to thank the audience for showing up. It means the world. This movie was made by hundreds of people,” Coogler shared during the group’s acceptance speech. “We don’t always, when we work in the film business, wear tuxedos and get glammed out. It’s usually a grind. We were wearing performance fishing gear, and we were in the swamps.

Last week, Sinners took home a plethora of awards at the Critics’ Choice Awards. Singer-actor Miles Canton won the Best Young Performer category; casting director Francine Maisler took home Best Casting and Ensemble; Ludwig Göransson won Best Score; and Ryan Coogler received an award for Best Original Screenplay.
