Platform Expansion & Format Update
The beloved children’s show Sesame Street will launch its 56th season this summer on Netflix, after HBO Max chose not to renew its contract last year. While classic episodes will remain on HBO Max until 2027, the new 25-episode season will stream same-day on Netflix, PBS, and PBS Kids.

New Features & Fan-Favorite Segments
This “reimagined” version will feature a condensed 11-minute story format per episode and the return of segments like Elmo’s World and Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck. Notable additions include Cookie Monster’s Cookie Cart and Abby’s Fairy Garden, incorporating playful new learning environments.
Commitment to Education
PBS President Paula Kerger reaffirmed the show’s cultural and educational significance as Sesame Street approaches its 55th anniversary on PBS this November. Originally debuting in 1969 on NET, the show remains a staple in children’s educational programming.
