Rochester Woman’s Death Under Investigation After Canal Discovery

The Gates Police Department has identified the woman found dead near the Erie Canal path on Lee Road on June 2 as 32-year-old Marie Fountain-Williams of Rochester.

Her body was discovered by people using the canal trail, and police say there were no obvious signs of trauma.
Investigators are awaiting results from the Monroe County Medical Examiner to determine the official cause and manner of death.
