The City of Rochester is working to turn around a recent shortage of lifeguards with a new program to train them. The Lifeguard Development Program will kick off on December 2 at indoor city pools, ensuring the lifeguards will be certified in time for summer. “We’re encouraging students that have some trouble with their swimming skills to enhance them so they can take the lifeguard course,” said Shalom Singer, pool supervisor for the City of Rochester. Participants will develop advanced swimming strokes and deep-water skills, practice in-water rescue techniques, and learn the fundamentals of first aid, CPR, and AED. Anyone 15 years old and older is eligible. Click here to sign up.
