Rochester explores automated traffic enforcement, seeks community input through public meetings

Written by on April 21, 2026

Rochester officials are holding a series of public meetings to gather community feedback on whether automated traffic enforcement should be part of the city’s Vision Zero initiative, which focuses on reducing and ultimately eliminating deadly and serious crashes. Rather than rolling out a plan, the city is still in the early stages, using these sessions to explain what automated enforcement could look like and hear directly from residents. Officials said the outreach is especially important in neighborhoods that see a higher number of crashes, where future safety measures could have the biggest impact. The feedback gathered will help shape what, if anything, comes next. Public meetings are scheduled at multiple R-Centers across Rochester starting April 28 and running into May.
