Rochester Cracks Down on Illegal Dirt Bikes and ATVs with New Enforcement Measures
Written by Site Hub on April 18, 2025
Rochester is intensifying efforts to curb the illegal use and sale of dirt bikes and ATVs on city streets. Mayor Malik Evans announced a firm policy: for every 50 vehicles confiscated, the city will crush them. As part of the crackdown, the city has filed a lawsuit against “The Plug Wireless,” a business on Hudson Avenue accused of illegally selling off-road vehicles without proper licensing. Originally a cellphone store, the shop allegedly shifted to selling dirt bikes and ATVs, contributing to unsafe conditions on public roads. Rochester Police have also stepped up enforcement, recently recovering 14 illegal vehicles, issuing 49 traffic tickets, and making one felony DWI arrest. Officials emphasize the dual illegality—both in sales and use—of these vehicles, underscoring the city’s commitment to public safety.
