Rochester college soccer coach Darren Wynne has joined the coaching staff of Team USA Men’s Amputee Soccer. The team is competing for a spot in the 2026 World Cup in Costa Rica, with upcoming matches in Mexico. Wynne, who became a U.S. citizen in 2023, praised the determination of amputee athletes, noting they often outperform able-bodied players in endurance and skill. Wynne now hopes to form a Rochester-based team and expand the sport locally. Amputee soccer continues to grow in cities like Chicago and Boston through the American Amputee Soccer Association.
