Pennsylvania Woman Loses $24K in Fake Apple Alert Scam
Written by DJ Sight on May 19, 2026
A Pennsylvania woman lost $24,000 after falling for a text-message scam posing as an Apple security alert.
The scammers convinced her hackers had accessed her accounts and told her to wire her money into a “safe” account for protection. Within hours, the money was gone.
Police say the scheme is part of a growing trend of bank impersonation scams and warn consumers never to wire money based on unsolicited texts or calls.
