One Dead in ‘Catastrophic’ Hamburg House Explosion

A devastating explosion destroyed a home in Hamburg, NY, killing 78-year-old Joene Pease and critically injuring her husband, John Pease. The blast was so powerful that neighboring homes were damaged, and residents reported feeling the shock miles away. First responders described the scene as completely leveled. Although National Fuel reported no gas leaks, the investigation into the cause remains ongoing. A dog survived the incident, and two emergency responders suffered minor injuries.
