Officials Urge Caution During National Work Zone Awareness Week

Spring construction season is ramping up, bringing more Department of Transportation workers onto the roads. Officials are using National Work Zone Awareness Week to remind drivers to slow down, move over, and stay alert in work zones.
In 2025, there were over 360 crashes in DOT work zones, causing dozens of injuries and two deaths. Officials stress that drivers who ignore work zone rules can face fines—often doubled.
State police will increase enforcement in active work zones through the rest of the week, and automated speed cameras will also be in use to help protect workers.
