Monroe County Expanding Emergency “Code Blue” Protection Plan For Homeless
Written by Tariq on November 30, 2023
As we hit Upstate New York winter weather, Monroe County will be expanding the emergency “Code Blue” protection plan. A “Code Blue” is when temperatures dip below 32 degrees which are dangerous conditions for the homeless. There will be more shelters available to community members and additional 24-hour warming shelters will also be set up. Many community partners who are participating were present at the announcement, including YWCA Rochester, House of Mercy Rochester, and Open Door Mission.
