The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office has launched an investigation into Irondequoit Town Supervisor Andrae Evans following allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct. DA Sandra Doorley will review the findings of an investigative report that accuses Evans of making inappropriate remarks to a female employee and violating the town’s anti-harassment policies. The report also includes claims of retaliation against an employee.
The Irondequoit Town Board recently condemned the findings as “unacceptable,” though Evans has denied the allegations, claiming he is being targeted for political reasons. Despite issuing an apology, he has stated he does not plan to resign and intends to seek re-election.
The DA’s Office will conduct an external investigation to determine if criminal charges or penalties are warranted. At this time, no further statements have been made.
