Governor Hochul is reminding New Yorkers that the state’s minimum wage will increase again on January 1, 2026, marking the third consecutive year of wage hikes. Under the increase, the minimum wage will rise to $17.00 per hour in New York City, Westchester County, and Long Island, while workers in the rest of the state will see the minimum wage increase to $16.00 per hour. The change represents a $0.50 per hour increase statewide.

The New York State Department of Labor says it is working to educate both employers and employees about the upcoming changes. The department offers free educational seminars to help employers understand labor laws and ensure compliance.
