The 2025 Met Gala will celebrate Black style in menswear with its theme, “Tailored for You.” This marks the first time in over 20 years that the event’s accompanying exhibit will focus exclusively on menswear. The exhibit, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, will explore Black dandyism from the 18th century to today, highlighting fashion’s role in shaping identity.
The gala, set for May 5, will be co-hosted by Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and LeBron James, alongside Vogue’s Anna Wintour. A newly revived host committee includes stars like Usher, Janelle Monáe, Regina King, Simone Biles, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Spike Lee, among others.
The Met’s Costume Institute will showcase historical and cultural influences of Black fashion, with contributions from artists like Torkwase Dyson and Iké Udé. The exhibit, inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book, Slaves to Fashion, opens to the public May 10 – October 26.
Usher called the theme “timely,” while Richardson emphasized that Black style is more than clothing—“it’s how we own our space.”
