MapQuest Jump To #1 in Apple App Store After ‘Lake Ontario’ Decision

MapQuest rose to #1 in the Apple Store following its decision to retain the name “Lake Ontario.” According to the Apple App Store, MapQuest was listed as the #1 Navigation App and the top eighth overall free app. It was also listed as #2 in the Canada Apple App Store. This surge happened after MapQuest decided to retain the name “Lake Ontario.” President Trump recently signed an executive order to rename the lake “Lake America.” Similarly, MapQuest kept the name “Gulf of Mexico” after Trump ordered the name changed to “Gulf of America.” Google recently updated the lake’s name in Google Maps to “Lake America,” and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said Trump reached out to Apple to see if they will change the name on its platform.
