Jermaine Dupri compared today’s AI musicians to the Milli Vanilli scandal, questioning why the industry once revoked a Grammy for lip-syncing but now embraces artists “who can’t even sing” using AI.

His comments follow AI artist Xania Monet’s debut on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.

Monet’s creator, poet Telisha “Nikki” Jones, defended her, calling the AI singer “an extension” of herself and a sign of how technology is reshaping music.
