J. Cole canceled a California performance hours before he was set to hit the stage after one of his crew members was killed in a truck accident. The Grammy winner, 41, was scheduled to perform at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif., on Thursday, Aug. 27, but the venue announced the show was canceled.
“Following the tragic passing of a member of the touring crew in a trucking accident this morning, J. Cole’s show scheduled for tonight, August 27, at Golden 1 Center has been canceled,” a spokesperson for the arena said in a statement posted to Facebook.
“Our thoughts are with the crew member’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement, which was also shared by Live Nation, continued. PEOPLE reached out to the California Highway Patrol for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
