In a call with top state voting officials, a Department of Homeland Security official said immigration agents would not patrol polling places during this year’s midterm elections. The report explains the statement as an attempt to reduce fear and confusion that can suppress participation, especially in communities where mixed-status families worry that routine civic life could become risky. While the promise is not the same as a binding rule, it matters because even rumors can chill turnout and volunteer engagement. The piece supports clear, practical messaging for voters: know your voting plan, verify your polling place information, and rely on official guidance rather than social media claims.
