“I Hate How the World Turns on Him” J. Cole Talks About Drake Backlash During Kendrick Lamar Feud

J. Cole is breaking his silence on one of hip-hop’s most talked-about moments, and he’s not here for how fans handled it. In clips from his Talk with Flee podcast interview with Cam’ron, Cole kept it real about what he saw unfold in 2024. He said the moment quickly turned into a choose-your-side situation.

“The world, right away, became like politics,” Cole said. “You’re either Democrat or Republican. You’re either [with] Kendrick or you’re Drake. And you have to pick a side. And I felt like the n***a that was like disgusted both ways, damn near.” He made it clear he’s not here to judge the battle itself, but the reaction from fans didn’t sit right with him.

“[It’s] disgusting how people try to use that opportunity to either show how they really felt about Drake the whole time or just pile on and tear this dude down, and create a narrative as if he’s not great,” Cole explained. “It was a whole campaign, and probably still is to this day.”

At the same time, Cole gave Kendrick his flowers. “When I see Kendrick get the moment he had… I’m just as proud of this n***a as I was when I knew him back then,” he said. Still, he admitted, “I also hate that for Drake, and I hate how the world turns on him.” When it comes to their personal relationships, Cole says love is still there, even if communication is not. “I genuinely love these n***as,” he shared. “I be wanting to shoot off a text… but it is my truth.”
