Hidden Screw Scam at Gas Pumps Raises Concerns

Police are warning drivers about a new gas pump scam involving a hidden screw placed inside the nozzle cradle. The device can keep a transaction open after a customer finishes fueling, allowing a scammer to continue pumping gas at the victim’s expense.

Experts recommend checking pumps for signs of tampering, using credit cards instead of debit cards, monitoring account activity, and ensuring the transaction is fully completed before leaving the station.
