Greece Athen, World of Inquiry, Rush-Henrietta & Penfield Win Boys HS Basketball Championship Bricks

Jalen Taggart and Jahquin Brown finished with a game-high 18 points apiece as top-seeded Rush-Henrietta (20-2) erased a halftime deficit to beat No. 2 Fairport, 53-50 in the 2025 Section V Class AAA championship game at Blue Cross Arena. Tournament MVP Kanaz Linder scored 18 points to lead No. 1 World of Inquiry past No. 2 Waterloo, 62-53 to capture the Section V Class B1 title at Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial on Saturday morning.  The Griffins earned their first boys’ basketball championship in school history. The No. 1 Penfield Patriots won their first sectional title since 1953, beating the No. 2 Webster Thomas Titans 71-44 in the Section V Class AA1 championship. Tonight marked Penfield’s first championship appearance since 1980. Tournament MVP Patrick Emling scored seven of his game-high 20 in the first quarter. Mike Setzer shared one thought with the Greece Athena boys’ basketball team as they wrapped up their Saturday afternoon shoot-around and prepared to head downtown to face Canandaigua for the Section V Class AA2 championship.
