Extreme Heat Leads To Early Dismissal For RCSD Monday & Tuesday (June 23th & 24th)

Rochester Central School District is implementing early dismissal for PreK through 8th grade on Monday and Tuesday, June 23 and 24. The school says students will get lunch before dismissal and all after-school activities are canceled. Parents should click here to find out the exact dismissal time for their child’s school. Graduation and moving-up ceremonies will go on as planned. The district says it’s taking steps to cool the schools as much as possible with overnight ventilation and fans throughout the day. The district urges parents to dress students in light, breathable clothing and send them to school with a reusable water bottle.
The Pittsford Central School District will cancel classes on Tuesday and dismiss early on Monday due to extreme heat. Early dismissal will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Principals will reach out to families in the district with more details. The district is notifying after-school and daycare providers about these changes.
Webster will close its schools early on Monday and Tuesday, since not all its schools have air conditioning. For the elementary schools DeWitt, Klem North, Plank North, Schlegel and State, buses will depart at 12:50 p.m. both days. For Klem South and Plank South, buses will depart at 1 p.m. For the Spry and Willink middle schools, buses will depart at 1:50 p.m. on Monday. Middle School language exams will be hold on Tuesday as scheduled. Lunch will be served before dismissal on both days. WonderCare will open at the early dismissal time on both days.
Fairport Central School District will transition to half days on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for the heat. The district says any students with an exam schedule will keep that same schedule and the tests will be given in climate-controlled spaces. Scheduled for FCSD elementary schools:
- Jefferson Avenue: 8:10 – 10:55 a.m.
- Dudley School: 8:55 – 11:40 a.m.
- Northside: 8:55 – 11:40 a.m.
- Brooks Hill: 8:55 – 11:40 a.m.

Hilton Central School District Students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade will have a half-day on Monday and Tuesday. The half-day release times are as follows:
- Merton Williams Middle School: 10:15 a.m.
- Northwood and Village Elementary: 11 a.m.
- QUEST Elementary: 11:35 a.m.
Exams at the high school will not be impacted on these days.
