Donald Trump said that the national (federal) government shouldn’t be in charge of paying for things like daycare, Medicare, or Medicaid.
Instead, he thinks each state should handle and pay for those programs on its own—even if that means states might have to raise their own taxes.
He said the federal government should mainly focus on one big job: protecting the country (the military), and not on what he called smaller programs like childcare or health coverage.
