Dominican Day Returns to International Plaza with a Celebration of Culture, Music, and Community

(Wednesday, August 12, 2026) – Dominican Day returns to the International Plaza, 828 N. Clinton Ave., Sunday, Aug. 16, from 1 to 7 p.m., bringing the community together for a free, family-friendly celebration of Dominican culture and traditions. Headlining this year’s celebration is acclaimed international merengue star Ala Jaza.

“Dominican Day is a celebration of heritage, unity, and community,” said Jessica Del Valle, a member of the Dominican Day Committee. “It is an opportunity for everyone to experience the richness of Latino culture while honoring the Dominican community across generations and celebrating the diversity that strengthens Rochester. We welcome the entire community to join us for an unforgettable day of music, food, culture, and family fun.”

Festival attendees will be treated to music by Rochester favorite Banda Light, Bachata Rebelde, and local DJs, as well as performances by the talented youth cultural groups Los del Mambo and Las Batuteras Latinas de Rochester.

Additional highlights include a tobacco exhibit showcasing Dominican heritage, authentic cuisine, cultural displays, children’s activities, and opportunities to connect with community resources in an inclusive and welcoming setting.

Dominican Day is sponsored by the City of Rochester and ESL Federal Credit Union, in collaboration with community partners, including Rochester Latino Theatre Company, Grupo Cultural Latinos en Rochester, Ibero-American Action League (Ibero), Poder 97.1 FM, and CNY of Latino.

The International Plaza maintains a small parking lot on-site. Carpooling, walking, cycling, and public transit use are encouraged.
