Domestic Violence In Monroe County 2X Statewide Rates
Written by Tariq on October 2, 2026
Local leaders gathered Thursday to share the most recent statistics on domestic violence as October marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Monroe County. Leaders shared the most recent statistics in both Monroe County and the city of Rochester. Last year, city rates of domestic violence reports were nearly two and a half times higher than statewide rates, and reports in the county were nearly twice as high.
“Domestic violence awareness saves lives. It’s something that people don’t want to talk about that hides behind closed doors, but we bring it out into the open every day at Willow and in October through our entire community,” said Meaghan de Chateauvieux, president and CEO of the Willow Domestic Violence Center. Willow Domestic Violence Center said the 2025 report does not have the answers, but it does help guide which questions leaders need to answer when coming up with solutions and resources.
