The Los Angeles Dodgers will pay a record-setting $169.4 million luxury tax following their second consecutive World Series title. The team’s 2025 payroll hit $417.3 million, bolstered by high-profile contracts like Shohei Ohtani’s, which included nearly $1 million in noncash compensation. This pushes the Dodgers’ two-year luxury tax total to $272.4 million. The New York Mets follow with a $91.6 million bill despite missing the playoffs, bringing their four-year tax total to $320.3 million. Other taxed teams include the Yankees ($61.8M), Phillies ($56.1M), and Blue Jays ($13.6M). In total, nine teams owe $402.6 million, the highest in MLB history.
