D’Angelo is Working on His First Album in Nearly 10 Years

D’Angelo is currently working on his first album in nearly a decade, according to his longtime collaborator Raphael Saadiq. During a recent appearance on the “Rolling Stone Music Now” podcast, Saadiq shared that the Virginia singer and songwriter is in a great creative space and excited about his new music. D’Angelo is reportedly working on six tracks and has even asked Saadiq to play bass on one of them. The pair, who have been collaborating since D’Angelo’s debut single “Lady,” have a deep musical connection rooted in their shared gospel influences. Saadiq also revealed that they are working on a funky new track together. D’Angelo’s last album, Black Messiah, was released in 2014, and since then, he has been selective about releasing new music, feeling that he’s only just getting started.
