Cybercrooks Bypass App Store With Sneaky Calendar Trick

Written by on February 25, 2026

Scammers are hijacking iPhones by tricking users into subscribing to fake calendars — no malware required.

After you click a shady pop-up or spam link, your device may start flooding you with bogus alerts like “Your iPhone is infected!” or “You’ve won a prize!” These look official because calendar subscriptions don’t go through the App Store review process.

Fix it:
Go to Settings → Calendar → Accounts → Subscribed Calendars and delete anything you don’t recognize. You can also remove it directly in the Calendar app.

Reminder: Apple doesn’t send virus warnings through your calendar. If it sounds urgent or too good to be true, it’s a scam.
