Bar Owner, Staff Charged in Evidence Tampering After Patron’s Death

Three people connected to Dave’s Long Pond Pub—a bar owner, a bartender, and a cook—were charged with tampering with physical evidence after an unconscious patron, John Acito, was dragged outside and later died from a head injury.

Police say Acito was overserved past closing time, fell and hit his head, and staff then fabricated a story and altered the scene to protect the bar instead of calling for help.

Acito died days later, and while his death was ruled accidental, authorities say the suspects’ actions delayed medical response and are under continued investigation.
