NPR reports on how states are responding very differently to immigration crackdowns after high-profile deaths connected to federal agents. Some leaders are pushing for accountability and limits, while others are cooperating more closely. The report helps explain a complex landscape: local versus federal power, political incentives, and what actions states can realistically take. It is a useful national explainer that supports community conversations about oversight, rights, and the role of state government in protecting residents.
