Juneteenth Block Party At Parcel 5 Wednesday (06/18)

Parcel 5 in downtown Rochester is set to host the annual Juneteenth Block Party on Wednesday. The block party comes ahead of the federal holiday on Thursday to mark the day that enslaved people in Texas learned about their freedom, two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. The block party begins at 11 a.m. and includes live music, food trucks, community resource tables, and a special Juneteenth-wrapped RTS bus. It’s at a different location this year, with last year’s block party taking place outside Rochester City Hall. The City of Rochester’s Black Heritage Committee is organizing the festivities. All city offices are closed on Thursday for Juneteenth.
