McDonald’s Boosts Value Menu to Attract Budget-Conscious Diners

McDonald’s is set to expand its U.S. value menu on January 7, offering inflation-weary customers more affordable options. The new promotion lets customers purchase one full-priced menu item and get another for just $1. Items included are favorites like the Sausage McMuffin, hash browns, McChicken, and small fries.
The chain is also extending its popular $5 Meal Deal through next summer and will continue offering local specials and app-exclusive deals, including free drinks. These moves come as fast-food chains compete for budget-conscious diners amid rising costs of dining out.
Despite easing grocery inflation, McDonald’s has observed a shift toward home cooking. However, its $5 Meal Deal, matched by competitors like Burger King, has helped stabilize sales, with U.S. same-store sales rising slightly in the third quarter of 2024.
