$5.4 Million Coming To Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport

Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) is receiving over $5.4 million from the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program and Airport Infrastructure Grant Program. Over $63.6 million in new federal funding has been awarded to upgrade airports in Upstate New York. $5,487,182 is going to ROC for various facilities and equipment upgrades. The funding is broken up into specific grants for various projects and project stages.

- A $2,184,781 grant is for the rehabilitative construction of over 1,000 feet of paved taxiway.
- $1,566,672 is going toward reconstructing 7,708 square feet of the existing terminal, including the customs and border patrol building.
- $738,635 was granted to reconstruct the existing Terminal Apron lighting.
- $443,565 is for reconstructing the existing terminal by replacing components of the baggage claim unit. This grant funds phase 1: design.
- $296,775 is going towards rehabilitating existing Runway 10/28 lighting. This grant is also just for the design.
- $143,642 is for rehabilitating 3,000 feet of existing hangar access road and 6,100 feet of existing terminal access road.
- Finally, a $113,112 grant funds the design phase for the replacement of the existing airport lighting vault equipment.
The remaining $58 million is going to other airports in upstate New York for similar purposes.
