The Patriots are releasing the wide receiver, according to a report from Yahoo Sports. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport said the organization informed Diggs on Wednesday that he will be officially released at the start of the new league year on March 11. Diggs signed a three-year, $63.5 million deal with New England in March 2025, with $22.6 million guaranteed. His contract counted $10.5 million against the salary cap in 2025 and was set to jump to $26.5 million in 2026. The move leaves the team with a $9.7 million dead cap hit in 2026 and a $4 million dead cap hit in 2027.
On the field, Diggs delivered. The 32-year-old wideout posted 85 receptions for more than 1,000 yards during the 2025 regular season, stepping in as the team’s primary target after returning from a 2024 ACL tear. However, his season also included legal issues that surfaced in December and remain unresolved. He also totaled 14 catches for 110 yards across four playoff games as the offense struggled against top defenses.
