1,000+ Volunteers Join Canalway Trail Clean Sweep Across New York

More than 1,000 volunteers are taking part in this year’s Clean Sweep, a statewide effort organized by the New York State Canal Corporation to prepare the Canalway Trail system for spring and summer.

From April 17 to 19, around 140 cleanup events will focus on clearing debris and improving trail conditions. The Rochester region alone will host more than 30 events, highlighting strong local support.

The initiative not only refreshes the trails after winter but also brings communities together to care for one of New York’s most valued outdoor spaces.
